Our Beloved, João Andrade "Djon Di nha Femia ku Padjemi" 82, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, after 17 months of fighting for his life from a traumatic brain injury caused by a car accident from a distracted driver.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, and residing in Pawtucket, RI for over 20 years, João was the most fun, loving and hard-working Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Tio and a loyal Friend.
He radiated every room he entered with his glow, smile, sense of humor and positive energy. An HONORABLE GENUINE MAN who always wanted to help others without wanting anything in return.
João was a fisherman and a restaurant worker who worked tirelessly and gave all to support his family.
He is survived by his children Jose Andrade of Senegal, Airis Andrade and Eunicia Andrade of Praia, Matilde Andrade and Eugenia Andrade of Brava, Ana Andrade and Joao Andrade of Fogo, His late parents Pa Gemi and Nha Femia as well as his late children Vasco, Domingas and Autilio Andrade have welcomed him into Heaven.
Besides his children, he also left behind his sister Teca, countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and so many loving friends. His love for his family and friends was LARGER THAN LIFE.
While Djon’s passing left a painful wound in our hearts, wise beyond his years he assured us all he is now our angel up above. His vibrancy, fun and passion for a happy life will be with us forever.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 32 Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket RI at 11:00am. Burial will be at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket RI. Calling hours will be on the same day, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 8:30am to 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made so he can continue to support his children back home at his beloved Brava Island. Djon has touched so many lives. He is a tremendous loss. He will be missed and will forever live in our hearts.
